jiandyin (Jiradej Meemalai and Pornpilai Meemalai) are an interdisciplinary artist duo and curators based in Ratchaburi, Thailand. Since 2002, they have been developing research-driven, collaborative, and socially engaged works. jiandyin employ a wide range of disciplines and media to create platforms that analyze relationships between people and society, particularly in relation to local history. Their work often delves into the complex paradoxes of the nation-state, political conflict, and their impact on marginalized communities. In 2011, they founded Baan Noorg Collaborative Arts and Culture, a not-for-profit artist initiative that runs community-based art and cultural programs.
jiandyin received a fellowship grant from the Asian Cultural Council in New York (2009) and undertook residencies at Headlands Center for the Arts (San Francisco, 2010), International Studio & Curatorial Program (New York, 2010), Lichtenberg Studios (Berlin, 2013), and Civitella Ranieri Center (Umbria, 2013).
They have held numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, including in Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, China, South Korea, the USA, Germany, the UK, Italy, and more. Their works have been featured in documenta fifteen (Germany, 2022), and biennales such as Kunsthal Charlottenborg Biennale (Copenhagen, 2025), Busan Sea Art Festival (South Korea, 2021), and Asian Art Biennial (Taiwan, 2019). In addition, they have been invited as guest speakers at many universities and conferences, with recent engagements including Share Meeting (Japan, 2025), SEASUN Art (Japan, 2025), Kathmandu University School of Arts (Nepal, 2025), and Royal College of Art (England, 2024).
