Aligned with the gallery’s mission to engage audiences with prevailing environmental issues, Warin Lab Contemporary presents a curatorial project exploring sustainable possibilities in textile art through thoughtful materials and forms.
This project titled “Elements of Change” presents the works by two South East Asianartists: Ari Bayuaji and Jarupatcha Achavasmit.
Ari collaborates with the community to repurpose discarded fisherman’s ropes that litter the Balinese mangroves. The plastic ropes were unravelled then weaved into shimmering textiles that narrate the ocean’s story. Jarupatcha transforms metal detritus from the industrial sector into soft sculptures of woven metal fabric. Her works resemble organic shapes found in nature, creating a striking contrast to the stiff and cold qualities of the material.
