Warin Lab Contemporary is thrilled to present the works by two South-East asian artists, Ari Bayuaji (Indonesia) and Jarupatcha Achavasmit (Thailand), at Abu Dhabi Art 2024. Titled “Elements of Change,” the presentation explores sustainable possibilities in repurposing consumer debris into art.
Bayuaji collaborates with the community to repurpose discarded fisherman’s ropes that litter the Balinese mangroves. The plastic ropes were unravelled then weaved into shimmering textiles that narrate the ocean’s story.
Achavasmit works with R&D lab to transform scrap metal into fabric-like material. Her soft sculptures resemble organic shapes found in nature, creating a striking contrast to the stiff and cold qualities of its origin.
